A number of years ago, townships in the State of Ohio were given the power to implement single trash hauling contracts in their respective townships.
On occasion, the Newark Township Board of Trustees gets asked about our trash-hauling policy. Ohio townships have the option to award single trash hauling contracts. Some townships do this because of the potential of township roads being damaged by all the area trash haulers.
Newark Township takes pride in the condition of our roads. We no longer have any gravel roads in the township to maintain; all of our roads are hard surfaced. We don’t receive damage to our roads due to trash hauling, nor do we receive complaints regarding any trash haulers.
We believe if we were to enter into a single trash hauling contract, we would be taking away the rights of township residents to choose the hauler that they desire. We also are believers in the free enterprise system.
Because of these facts, the current Board of Trustees supports allowing you, the Newark Township residents, to decide on your own trash hauling company.
We love our residents, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
